PBS Films for the Classroom
Inspiring students and helping them understand the forces that shape our world is what you do every day. Unity Productions Foundation can help you reach your goals with our award-winning PBS films. We are pleased to offer you four of our films free of charge along with curriculum lesson plans and discussion guides designed to meet state and national teaching standards.
Choose from the following four films: the true story of an enslaved Muslim prince in pre-Antebellum America in Prince Among Slaves (great for Black History Month); the Emmy-nominated true story of Francis of Assisi and the Sultan of Egypt, and their meeting on a bloody battlefield during the period of Christian-Muslim conflict known as the Crusades in The Sultan and the Saint; the 700-year long history of the European Islamic civilization of Muslim Spain in Cities of Light and the award-winning documentary about the founder of Islam in Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet.
These resources are designed to meet state and national teaching standards, and they have been supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the United Institute for Peace and other foundations.
