LAMYA'S POEM
LAMYA'S POEM is an animated film about displacement, resilience and ultimately, hope. Two refugees are magically connected through a book which gets them through their harrowing journeys full of violence and psychological struggle. Lamya is a contemporary Syrian girl escaping the humanitarian catastrophe in her country who is given a book of poems by her teacher.
The author of the book is Rumi, a 13th century boy fleeing from a violent Mongol invasion. He will become one of the most famous poets in the world, known globally as the “poet of love.”
Rumi's poetry becomes a magical gateway between Lamya and him, uniting them as they are displaced by war and chaos. Lamya's fight for survival will hinge on helping Rumi write a poem that will save her life 800 years later
Lamya's Poem has been selected for numerous film festivals around the world and recognized for excellence in animation and storytelling.
